NEW BERN -- A Wilson man has been sentenced to 11 years in prison for selling crack cocaine, U.S. Attorney General Thomas G. Walker announced.

Steven Larue Robinson, 40, was sentenced last week by U.S. District Court Judge Louise Flanagan. He will be under five years supervised release after finishing his sentence.

A federa grand jury returned a criminal indictment in May against Robinson, charging him with conspiracy to distribute at least 50 grams of crack cocaine. He pleaded guilty on April 30.

Law enforcement officers testified that they made six controlled purchases from Robinson. Testimony showed that Robinson had distributed approximately 1.5 kilograms of crack cocaine since 2000.

The investigation was conducted by the federal Drug Enforcement Administration and the Wilson Police Department.
