Raynardo Nobles of Dudley buys a lottery ticket early this morning from Gini Winstead, owner and operator of the Down East Travel Center in Mar-Mac.

People who have bought Powerball lottery tickets for tonight's drawing might be expected to be a little more anxious than usual. And stores selling the tickets might find business picking up between now and then -- and even more so if there is no winner announced after tonight's drawing.

The jackpot is a record $320 million, with an estimated cash value of $213.3 million.

Forty-four states offer the game, from Arizona to Wisconsin. Drawings are held each Wednesday and Saturday nights at 11:59 p.m. To win the jackpot, a player's ticket must match all five white ball numbers in any order and the red Powerball number.

Tickets cost $2.

The odds of winning the jackpot, according to the official Powerball website, are one in 175,223,510.
