Wayne Community College to offer several allied health courses this fall

Wayne Community College Continuing Education Services will be offering several allied health courses this fall.
*The Health Unit Coordinator/Secretary course is a hybrid (combination of online and face-to-face components) that will be taught 5:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Aug. 28-Oct. 30. Cost is $175.
*There are two classes of Medication Aide for Skilled Facilities available. A short version will run 8 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturdays and 5:30-8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Aug. 16-28. A longer version is set for 5:30-8:30 p.m., Mondays and Tuesdays, Nov. 19-Dec. 17. Cost for either is $65.
*Ethics - Dealing with Dilemmas classes will be held 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturdays, Nov. 3-Dec. 15. Cost is $65.
*Med Tech for Family Care/Group and Adult Day Care Homes will be held 5:30-8:30 p.m., Mondays and Wednesdays, Sept. 10-19. Fee is $65.
*Nurse Aide Refresher will be offered 5:30-8:30 p.m., Mondays and Wednesdays, Oct. 8-31. Cost is $65.
*Classes for Nurse Aide II Competency Testing for those currently at Nurse Aide I status who have previously been listed on the Nurse Aide II registry will be held twice: 5:30-8:30 p.m., Mondays and Wednesdays, Aug. 20-29 and again Nov. 5-14. Registration is $65.
The department also offers a certificate program in Medical Billing and Coding. The program consists of two online courses -- Medical Terminology with Anatomy and Physiology and Medical Billing/Coding with Legal Issues. Both are set for Aug. 20-Dec. 15 and cost $175 each.
All of the classes will be held on the college's main campus in Goldsboro.
Students are encouraged to register as soon as possible to guarantee a seat. While they may register as late as the day of a class, there is no walk-in option. Register and pay fees at the Continuing Education Division's customer service desk in the Walnut Building or by going to "Register Now" at www.waynecc. edu/continuing-ed/.
