Landscapers discover break-in
A lawn care crew arrived at a vacant home Wednesday and discovered the door had been pried open. The residence at 430 Branch St. is owned by Christopher Boone, 34, of Raleigh.
Intruders damaged the side door and adjacent wall of the home when they broke in to remove copper. The crooks also got away with two weedeaters worth $100 each. The total value of damaged and lost property was less than $1,000.
Cupboards stripped
Thieves broke into the home of Lillian Joyce Andrews, 76, of LaGrange, and stole everything they could get their hands on. Ms. Andrews reported missing a notebook computer, two video game consoles and assorted games, a 32 inch flat screen television, a .22 Mossberg rifle, jewelry, and prescription medications.
Not satisfied with the haul, the criminals went as far as to steal Ms. Andrews' food.
