Goldsboro Parks and Recreation is giving kids an unprecedented opportunity to learn to fish at the Goldsboro Municipal Golf Course Saturday through its Big Cat Catfishing Tournament.

Children ages 5 to 15 can earn prizes for fishing at the golf course, which has been closed this summer while undergoing renovations to the greens.

The tournament, which will mostly be fishing for fun with a few prizes at the end, will run from 8 until 11 a.m. and will feature a hot dog lunch and T-shirt for those who register.

Rods and reels will be provided and EZ Mart Bait and Tackle will provide bait and be sponsoring the lunch.

Biologists and representatives from a variety of fish and wildlife programs will also be on hand for the tournament.
