Rashawn Ray McDuffie

For 11 months he was a fugitive. Today he is an inmate.

Goldsboro police have arrested Rashawn Ray McDuffie, 26, 105 Brogden St., in connection with a statutory rape complaint filed more than one year ago.

McDuffie is accused of having been sexually involved with a 14-year-old girl sometime between February and March 2011. A Goldsboro police investigation of the complaint filed against McDuffie on March 17 of that year led to the issuing of an arrest warrant six months later.

When police attempted to execute the warrant at McDuffie's home on Sept. 6, 2011, investigators found he had fled. McDuffie allegedly left the area and had not been seen since.

The alleged rapist's luck ran out less than a year later when a Crime Stopper's tip led investigators to Turkey, N.C. Sampson County deputies discovered McDuffie's alleged hideout at 1080 Thompson Ave., Turkey.

McDuffie was returned to Goldsboro and charged with statutory rape and six other charges not yet specified by reports. He remains in Wayne County Jail under $104,500 secured bond.
