Armed robbery
A couple were abruptly awakened before 3 a.m. Tuesday when two unidentified men burst into their home and demanded money at gunpoint. Lia Elaine Jackson, 29, and Shadell Issiah Barksdale, 22, of 414 Beech St. reported to police that the suspects removed $700 from Barksdale and were able to grab a cell phone and key ring before they fled through the backdoor. Damage to the door and walls indicated to police that it also was the entry point.
Stolen A/C units
Sometime between July 1 and July 27, copper thieves were able to remove two whole air conditioner units from behind a building. The building, 405 E. Holly Street, was vacant at the time of the theft. The combined value of the units is listed by the owner, Chuck Allen, 800 block Park Avenue, at $10,000.
