KENANSVILLE -- Starting next week, a section of N.C. 11 will be closed for a two-week period for construction work.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation will close an approximately 10-mile stretch of N.C. 11, from just north of Main Street in Kenansville to B.F. Grady School in Albertson from July 23 through Aug. 8.

The closing is required to allow workers to install new drainage pipes beneath the highway.

Motorists will be directed along an alternate route that follows N.C. 24 to N.C. 11 North.

Pipe replacement work is scheduled to begin again on N.C. 11 between Albertson and the Lenoir County line on Aug. 13.
