WCC's Phi Beta Lambda brings home national awards

Wayne Community College's Phi Beta Lambda business education student organization placed in nine competitive events at the organization's 2012 National Leadership Conference held last month in San Antonio, Texas.

The Gamma Chi chapter competed against delegates from universities and colleges across the continental United States as well as Puerto Rico and China.

Results of individual competitions were, Erik Ramsey, third place in telecommunications; Timothy Smith, seventh place in Help Desk; Corey Townsend, eighth place in Cyber Security; Silbano Talamantes, eighth place in Help Desk; and Top-15 final round qualifiers in Web Site Design Joshua Parker and Sara Alleman.

In team competition, the chapter's tally was, Angela Cromer, Jeremy Honeycutt and Ryan Wellmer, third place in Digital Video Production; Honeycutt along with James Braswell and Andrew Howell, third place in Computer Game and Simulation Programming; Shelby Bigham, Jacob McCullough and Chrystle Mealing, fourth place in Computer Game and Simulation Programming; Talamantes, Townsend and Ms. Cromer, fifth place in Network Design; and Jim McCullough, Ella Edmundson and Cody Vaughn, eighth place in Digital Video Production.

Also attending as delegates and competitors were Jeannette Talamantes and Samantha Pickard, along with adviser Michael Everett.

Phi Beta Lamba is the postsecondary division of Future Business Leaders of America. Its mission is to bring business and education together in a positive working relationship through innovative leadership and career development programs.
