The Wayne Community College unit of the Association of Educational Office Professionals honored its administrator and professional of the year at its annual Administrators Luncheon.

Beverly Deans was named Administrator of the Year. Ms. Deans came to the college 35 years ago as a student, worked her way up from teacher's assistant to instructor, continuing her education as she worked. She became the law enforcement training director, and is now chair of the integrated curriculum and continuing education Public Safety Division.

"She personifies the term professional in every sense of the word, displaying devotion to her students, Wayne Community College, the community, and her family," said her nominator, adding "she is a strict taskmaster on both her students and herself."

Michelle Rogers was named the Educational Office Professional of the Year. A WCC graduate, she started her career while a participant in the federal work-study program at the college, became a part-time assistant, then a full-time administrative assistant in the Public Safety Division, all while earning her associate and bachelor's degrees. She is currently working toward a master's degree.

"She gives new meaning to the term 'service with a smile,'" said Ms. Rogers' nominator. "Her attitude and passion for her work are remarkable."
