Counterfeit money found

Cathy Eubanks, principal at Easter Wayne Middle School, filed a report on May 16 alleging counterfeit money was found on school grounds. A student reportedly found a $10 bill against a fence and attempted to use it to make change at a concession stand.

Thefts

*Around 4 p.m. Friday, Barbara Krentz, 77, Dellwood Place, was shopping at a grocery store on Spence Avenue when someone removed a purse from her unattended shopping cart. The purse was valued at $75 and it contained $80 cash and assorted identification cards.

*Geraldine Cox of River Bend Road said while shopping at Walmart, she was helping someone when an unknown person removed her wallet from her pocketbook and she did not discover it missing until she reached the checkout. It contained $90 cash and assorted miscellaneous identification.

*Derreck Williams, asset protection at Target, reported a purchase of two iPods, for $800, made with counterfeit American Express travelers' checks.

Assault

Howard Stewart, 40, Devereaux Street, reported he was struck in the face by a 37-year-old black man he knew. He was advised to secure warrants.
