Kathleen Tinworth of ExposeYourMuseum wrapped up her community evaluation concerning the city's proposed Air Force museum May 16 at the Goldsboro Youth Council meeting where she asked a few quick questions, but mainly highlighted an online and paper survey that will be available in June.

That survey will be available to the general public, likely through the city's website, she said.

Ms. Tinworth said she performed 75 to 80 interviews during her less than one week stay in Goldsboro, speaking with people at the Goldsboro Family YMCA, Berkeley Mall and the farmers market as well as holding group discussions with civic groups across the county.

She said her portion of the consultant work had gone fantastically, adding she felt she lucked out because she had several interviews that were particularly engaging.

She also said it was refreshing to see a municipality that thought to solicit public opinion on a city project, noting that some government boards don't include that portion in their museum planning.

Members of the Youth Council were full of ideas, however, saying the museum should be interactive and contain plane models that visitors could get into for photos. Other ideas included an F-15 replica and a flight simulator.

Ms. Tinworth addressed other groups, including educators from Wayne School of Engineering and the Veterans Coalition.

Ms. Tinworth will present her preliminary findings through a report for the city in a few weeks. She will return to assist with the consultant's final presentation to the City Council this fall.
