Alumni groups planning reunions

Dillard/Goldsboro Alumni & Friends will hold its 57th homecoming celebration during Memorial Day weekend, May 24-27.
Celebrating reunion classes will be those ending in 2's and 7's.
Kicking off the annual event will be the scholarship and awards program Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Goldsboro High School auditorium. In addition to entertainment and announcements of funds raised from various alumni classes, the 2012-13 alumni queen or king will be crowned.
There will be a golf tournament Friday morning at the Goldsboro Country Club and a free health fair for the public at the alumni center beginning at 8:30 a.m. with a Zumba class. Physicians and health care clinicians will be on hand to provide various screenings.
Many reunion classes will hold individual activities Friday and Saturday evenings.
Saturday activities include a parade in downtown Goldsboro at 10 a.m. followed by a picnic at alumni headquarters at noon and reunion banquets that evening.
The national organization, which also has chapters in Atlanta, New Jersey, New York, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Sunday worship service Sunday morning at 11 a.m. at H.V. Brown Hall with Rev. Allan Smith delivering the sermon and music provided by Continental Society Community Youth Choir. Tribute will be paid to the memory of Raymond Smith Sr., former president, who initiated the worship service as one of the concluding events for the annual gathering.
