Miss Goldsboro High Pageant to be held Saturday

The 2012 Miss Goldsboro High School Pageant, the school's first since 2004, will be held Saturday at 6 p.m. in the auditorium at GHS.
In order to qualify, the contestants were required to be a current sophomore or junior, have a minimum 2.5 grade point average and no out of school suspensions.
The contestants will be:
*Dionca Akia Sherrie Dominquez, 16, a sophomore who hopes to major in theater and performing arts. She will be showcasing her talent by reciting a poem she wrote entitled "Catch the Blessing."
*Shantia George, 16, a junior who hopes to major in forensic science and minor in law. For her talent, she will be acting out the poem "Ain't I a Woman," by Sojourner Truth.
*Miranda Alexis Simmons, 17, is a junior who plans to be a physical therapist. She has been playing the clarinet for six years and will perform "Happiness" from "You're a Good Man Charlie Brown."
*Nickie Danielle Tyler, 15, is a sophomore who plans to attend the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and major in psychology. She will be performing a self-choreographed praise dance to the song, "Father Can You Hear Me," by Tiffany Evans.
Admission to the pageant is $5.
