Goldsboro police are investigating an armed robbery and kidnapping of a man making an ATM transaction at BB&T at 210 N. Spence Ave., early Thursday.

Lafayette Joell Hines, 34, told police he was making a withdrawal from the bank's drive-up ATM about 12:20 a.m. when a man, armed with a handgun, approached his vehicle and demanded, "Give me all your money."

Hines said he gave the man about $1,800, according to the police report.

The armed man then entered Hines' 2004 Ford Explorer and forced him to drive about three miles to the Goldsboro Housing Authority property Westhaven Apartments.

The suspect got out of the vehicle on Rockefeller Court.

According to the report, Hines was forced to turn off his phone during the incident.

Hines drove to the police station and filed the report at 12:53 a.m.

The suspect was described as a black man, 6 feet tall with a medium build, wearing a gray and black jacket and dark hat.
