About 275 choral members from Wayne County Public Schools will come together in one voice to showcase their musical talents Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Goldsboro High School.
The choral festival will be divided into three programs, which will be performed by elementary, middle and high school students. An accomplished professional will direct each talented group of singers. The elementary chorus will be directed by Dr. Maribeth Gail Yoder-White, a music consultant and clinician. The middle school chorus will be directed by Barbara Swigart, a music and drama teacher at Croatan High School in Carteret County. The high school chorus will be directed by Dr. Daniel M. Huff, a Clinical Associate Professor of Music Education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Twenty-three schools will be represented in the program. Eddie Radford, chairman of the Wayne County Board of Education, will serve as the master of ceremonies.
"This event is one all of our schools look forward to each year," said Kim Copeland, WCPS Director of Performing Arts. "The All County Choral Festival is always an enjoyable evening for the many students, family members, staff and community members who come out to hear these singers perform."
