Thousands of baby chicks killed
Donnie Wiggs reported that his business, Gum Pond Farms, at 701 Ebeneezer Church Road, was sabotaged between 10 p.m. Monday and 8 a.m. Tuesday. He informed authorities that the night switches in a poultry house on his property were turned off, deactivating heaters, water ventilation fans and audible alarms, which resulted in the loss of approximately 19,000 hatchling chickens
The hatchlings had an estimated value of $19,000.
Wiggs told authorities that he suspects his property was targeted by a former disgruntled employee.
Home break-in
Charles Hare reported a break-in at his home in the 600 block of Princeton Road in Princeton that occurred between Monday and Tuesday.
After returning from an out-of-town trip, Hare realized a door to his home had been pried open and 10 items of jewelry were missing. The value of the stolen goods was listed at more than $4,000.
Hare contacted Jewelry Unlimited, located at 920 N. Spence Ave., to get the listed value of his stolen property, at which time he was informed by an employee that the business had purchased the same goods on Monday.
