Goldsboro police have one man in custody and are searching for another in connection with the attempted murder of a 19-year-old Goldsboro woman.

Kenya Tyree Floyd, 22, was arrested about 10:15 p.m. Tuesday at his home at 505 Cardinal Drive. He was placed under a $600,000 secured bond.

He faces charges of attempted first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and discharging a weapon into occupied property.

Ms. Faison was struck by a bullet while driving a van on Olivia Lane Dec. 28.

She received minor injuries and was treated and released by Wayne County Emergency Medical Services.

Police also are searching for Edquan Moranta Battle, 24, of 909 Creech St., in connection with the shooting.

Police Sgt. Dwayne Dean said the two men apparently targeted Ms. Faison during the incident that occurred shortly before 1 p.m. on a Wednesday.

"It appears that this was not a random act and that the victim knows the suspects," he said.

Floyd and Battle, the only suspects in the case, allegedly fired multiple shots from a vehicle.

Dean said the men were identified as suspects though interviews conducted by investigators. The information gathered during the interviews led to enough probable cause to file charges against the two men, he said.

Dean declined to confirm if both men are believed to have fired weapons.

He said investigators believe Battle knows he is being sought by authorities.

"We don't know exactly where he is at, but we have received word he is on the run," Dean said.

Battle was arrested on Nov. 1, 2011, and charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon.

The alleged robbery took place outside of a home on a public street.

He was released on Nov. 7.

Anyone with information is asked to call Investigator Dwayne Bevell at 580-4243 or Crime Stoppers at 735-2255.
