Get ready for the familiar taste of syrup and butter, as Saturday marks the 33rd year for the Boys & Girls Club's most popular Pancake Day fundraiser.
The event will be held at the Paley Unit, 1401 Royall Ave., from 7 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., with plates available for eat in or take-out. And all of it is at the same price it's always been -- $5 a ticket.
Featuring pancakes and sausage, beverages also are included for patrons who eat there.
Large orders will also be accommodated, but anyone requesting 10 or more plates is asked to call ahead to place the order.
Tickets can be purchased from board members and staff at each of the three club locations, in Goldsboro, Fremont and Mount Olive.
Proceeds will benefit general operations of the Wayne County club, founded in 1947, said Jo Heidenreich, development director.
"It is a non-profit agency that depends on donations and volunteers to accomplish its mission, which is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens," she said. "The clubs are a place for hundreds of children to come every day and learn how to succeed in life in a positive and safe environment.
"This annual fundraiser directly impacts the kids of Wayne County. Come enjoy breakfast, visit with friends, and walk the halls that each club members walks each and every day."
Volunteers are also welcome, to help in the kitchen or help clean tables.
