Gunman holds up Ash Street KFC
Kentucky Fried Chicken was robbed by an armed suspect Monday about 7:30 p.m. Employee Connie Lord reported the theft of $180 from the fast food restaurant, 700 E. Ash St.
Ms. Lord told police a masked person armed with a black handgun entered the business, went behind the counter and demanded money from the register.
North Berkeley Internet parlor robbed
X-Tech Internet Café, located at 217 N. Berkeley Blvd., reported the robbery of $1,500 between 2 a.m. and 8 a.m. Monday.
Employee Parkash Patel reported that a man entered the business after it closed and stole money from the cash drawer.
Bomb hoax at SWHS
Teacher Leonard Ballard reported a possible bomb threat on Nov. 9 at Southern Wayne High, 124 Walter Fulcher Road in Dudley.
According to school representatives, the word "bomb" was written on the wall of a bathroom in the high school.
After discovering the message, the school administered a fire drill. A custodian cleaned the writing from the wall. No suspects or witnesses have been identified.
Vehicle break-in
Tyron Oates reported that an unknown suspect removed a box of M&M candies, valued at $28, from his unsecured vehicle while it was parked in the 2000 block of South Slocumb Street.
Home break-ins
*James McCoy reported that an unknown suspect entered his unsecured home in the 2700 block of Warrick Circle, struck him in the head with a handgun and stole an $800 flat-screen TV, a $1,500 in cash, $600 in men's clothing, a $199 XBox 360, and two cell phones valued at $300.
*Mary Garza reported a break-in at her home in the 200 block of Eddington Drive between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. Monday. Ms. Garza returned to her home around 9 a.m. and found the front door of her home had been preyed open and a cell phone had been removed from her bedroom.
*Travis Crawford reported his home on the 100 block of Hubert Drive was broken into and three .38-caliber firearms and a GPS unit had been removed. The theft occurred between Saturday and Monday. The total value of the stolen items was listed as $1,200.
*Temeeka Honey reported that her home in the 100 block of Astor Court was broken into between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. Friday. The stolen items include jewelry, cell phones, a computer and an iPod. The total value of stolen property was more than $1,500.
*A vacant home in the 600 block of Devereaux Street was broken into between Oct. 27 and Friday. Chaka Jones reported the following items stolen: hot water heater, stove, four smoke detectors, four light fixtures, five mini blinds, six door knobs, a window screen and even the kitchen sink. The total value of the stolen property was more than $1,400. A back door and bath tub, valued at $600, were damaged.
