Home struck with gunfire
Brenda Best reported that an unknown person(s) shot holes through her daughter's home in the 3200 block of Central Heights Road between 11 p.m. Monday and 3 p.m. Tuesday. No one was home at the time of the shooting. The damaged property includes a 72-inch TV, couch, sink, windows and walls. The total value of stolen property was listed as $6,350.
Heavy equipment theft
Bobby Stocks reported a break-in at his property in the 700 block of Sandhill Drive in Dudley Tuesday morning. During the break-in, the suspect(s) removed a Timberwolf log splitter valued at $10,000. The suspect(s) cut a lock and removed a chain from a gate to gain access to a storage shed. A pry bar was used to enter the shed.
Home break-in
Donna Hamilton reported a break-in at her home in the 400 block of Magnolia Street while the home was vacant between Friday night and Saturday morning. Property stolen during the break-in included copper components from light fixtures, a heater and a regulator. Pots, pans and brass statues were also removed. The total value of stolen and damaged property was more than $175.
Firearm stolen
A P95 9 mm pistol, valued at $400, was stolen from the home of Tonyia Harrell in the 200 block of North Kornegay Street on Tuesday. An unknown suspect(s) entered the home by prying open a rear door. The home was reported as ransacked, but no other property was missing.
Attempted theft at mall store
Berkeley Mall Sears employee Yolanda Murphy told police that a large man put $272 worth of children's clothing in a J.C. Penney bag and left the store. When she confronted the man, he dropped the bag and left in a copper-colored Dodge Neon. The incident occurred around 8 p.m. Tuesday.
