CSS Neuse tours being offered Saturday

KINSTON -- The CSS Neuse State Historic Site and the Governor Caswell Memorial in Kinston will offer a special treat on Saturday. The program will run from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
There will be costumed interpreters giving tours of the CSS Neuse and demonstrating military and civilian life of the Civil War era. Experience history come alive through cooking, spinning and rope making demonstrations, musket firings and a camp life display. Since it is Halloween weekend we will have free candy as long as supplies last.
Tours of the CSS Neuse will be available throughout the program and the site gift shop will be open. The Gov. Richard Caswell Memorial will be open with exhibits featuring Caswell's life and career. All activities are free of charge, but donations are gratefully accepted. The site and Gov. Richard Caswell Memorial are located on West Vernon Avenue.
