Copper thieves hit business, homes

*Copper components and a compressor were removed with a cutting tool from the walk-in freezer of Guy Parker Barbecue at 319 S. George St. between Oct. 5 and Oct. 6. The reported value of the stolen and damaged property was more than $2,000.

*An A/C unit, valued at $3,000, was reported stolen from a home on White Oak Road on Tuesday. According to the report, the homeowner was contacted by a neighbor who recently had an A/C unit stolen as well.

*A home in the 500 block of Dail Street had $1,700 of copper wiring and pipe stolen between Oct. 15 and Oct. 18.

*Metal parts of an A/C unit, valued at $1,500, were stolen from a home in the 600 block of South Andrews Avenue between Oct. 14 and Oct. 18.

Instruments stolen from church

The New Hallelujah Worship Center, located at 1200 N. George St., was broken into between Monday and Tuesday.

The suspect(s) gained entry through a window and stole a keyboard, tuner, eight track player, CD player and two amplifiers.

The total value of stolen goods was reported over $1,200.

Armed robbery

A man was robbed at gunpoint Tuesday in front of his home in the 6300 block of Wayne Memorial Drive.

The gun-wielding suspect stole $15 cash, two packs of Newport cigarettes and a cell phone from the man as he exited his vehicle.

The suspect made away on foot.
