Local, state and federal offices, including posts offices and banks, will be closed Monday in observance of the Labor Day holiday. Wayne County Public Schools also will be closed.

Goldsboro city offices will be closed and Monday's trash and recycling pickup will be held on Thursday.

The City Council meeting scheduled for Monday has been moved to Tuesday night at 5 p.m. at City Hall.

All Wayne County offices will be closed Monday, including the landfill.

However, depending on the volume of storm debris traffic next week it is possible that the landfill will open on Wednesday (the day it is normally closed). The county will determine that based on Saturday traffic at the landfill.

The closing will not affect the county commissioners' meeting that will be held Tuesday in their meeting room on the fourth floor of the county courthouse annex. The agenda briefing is at 8 a.m. followed by the meeting at 9 a.m.

Duplin County offices will be closed, too.

Mount Olive offices will be closed and household garbage pickup which is on Thursdays and Fridays will not be affected. Yard waste pickup will be delayed by one day. Monday's route will be run on Tuesday and Tuesday's route will be run on Wednesday.

The recycling center on Talton Avenue will be open on Saturday, but will be closed on Monday, it will re-open on Wednesday, September 7.

The town board meeting that would have been held Monday has been rescheduled to 7 p.m. on Sept. 12.

Town halls in Fremont and Pikeville will be closed. Fremont will shift its trash pickup from Monday to Tuesday. The closing will not affect services in Pikeville.
