John Jarrel has a burqa placed on him by Kathryn Spicer during the "Celebrating Afghanistan" festival at the Wayne Arts Council on Saturday afternoon. The burqa is traditional garb for Afghan women. The event was the culmination of the annual Wayne County Reads program, which focused on the book "Three Cups of Tea," by Chris Mortenson, which described his efforts to build schools in the war-torn region. The film "Afghan Star," will be shown at the Wayne County Public Library today and the overall program will end March 3 with a Pennies for Peace event.
