A Wayne County sheriff's deputy wrecked his car on 2200 block of Antioch Road Tuesday around 11:20 a.m. while responding to a call.
Deputy Ron Carrasquillo was not injured but the car is believed to be a total loss, said Capt. Ray Brogden.
Carrasquillo drove off the right side of the road in a sharp curve, overcorrected, then lost control of the vehicle, Brogden said. The vehicle stopped on the left side of road.
Carrasquillo was returning from Pikeville and responded to the call only because he was in the area, Brogden said. It was a home security call that ended up being a false alarm.
Brogden said the Sheriff's Office stresses the importance responding to calls quickly, but cautiously.
