Antell DeAngelo Nobles

Antell DeAngelo Nobles, 21, has been charged with six counts of armed robbery, all of which occurred in a span of 22 days.

Goldsboro Police Department Sgt. Dwayne Dean said it is possible Nobles, of Isler Street, could be connected to up to four additional robberies.

Of the six counts, half stem from three robberies that occurred at the Kangaroo Express store on the 500 block of New Hope Road in less than two weeks between midnight and 1:30 a.m.

Through the joint investigation of police and Wayne County Sheriff's Office, Nobles was arrested for the armed robbery of the Handy Mart in the 2000 block of U.S. 70 West that occurred Jan. 21 around 8:30 p.m.

Dean said the physical evidence from the scene and a vehicle description aided law enforcement officials in connecting Nobles to the robbery.

He has been charged and is being held at the Wayne County Jail under a $150,000 bond.

Five days after his arrest, Nobles was charged with an additional five counts, bumping up his total secured bond to $650,000.

Access to video surveillance has been a resource in connecting Nobles to the previous robberies, Dean said.

Dean added that during the robberies the thief would often don a bandanna over his face and that his weapon of choice was a rifle.

In addition to his alleged convenience store thefts, the thief is also believed to have held up the China Eight restaurant on North Berkeley Jan. 19 at 11 p.m.

A China Eight employee said an individual brandished a rifle and stole $500 from the store as the employees were closing for the night.

Dean said it appears the robber was targeting business that were located on the outskirts of the city to maximize his options for escape routes.

Nobles' criminal history includes charges of shoplifting, misdemeanor larceny, driving while license revoked and simple affray.
