Towns announce closings for Christmas, New Year's

Local, state and federal offices will operate on abbreviated schedules over the next two weeks because of the Christmas and New Year's holidays.
Federal offices will be closed Friday for the Christmas holiday and Dec. 31 for New Year's. The post office will be closed Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
State offices will be closed Friday and Monday for Christmas and Friday, Dec. 31, for New Year's.
Banks are expected to close at 2 p.m. Dec. 23 and will not close for New Year's.
All Wayne County offices will be closed today and will remain closed through Monday for Christmas and will be closed Friday, Dec. 31, for New Year's.
The landfill will be closed today, Friday, Saturday and Monday. It also will be closed Saturday, Jan. 1.
"The schedule worked fine last year for all concerned," County Manager Lee Smith said. "All offices are on the same schedule this year. The county will be closed on Dec. 31 also in observance of New Year's.
"I do not anticipate any problems. For many of the county offices, the week of Christmas is extremely slow as it relates to customers and traffic, but picks up after Christmas with customers dealing with year-end business and taxes."
Friday was the final day of classes for Wayne County Public Schools students. Classes resume for students on Monday, Jan. 3.
The city of Goldsboro will observe the Christmas holiday Friday and Monday.
All services scheduled for Friday, Dec. 24 will be serviced on Wednesday, Dec. 22. All services scheduled for Monday will be serviced on Wednesday, Dec. 29.
The city will observe the New Year's Day holiday on Friday, Dec. 31. All sanitation services scheduled will be serviced as usual for the city.
Waste Industries collections will not be affected by the holidays.
Town offices in Fremont and Pikeville will be closed Dec. 24, 27 and 31. The closings will not affect any services in Pikeville. However, in Fremont, the Monday garbage collection will be moved to Tuesday, Dec. 28.
Eureka Town Hall is expected close around 10 or 10:30 a.m. Friday and will not close for New Year's.
Walnut Creek offices will be closed Thursday, Friday and Dec. 31. The closing will not affect services.
The holidays will not affect the Seven Springs town offices.
Mount Olive town offices will be closed Thursday through Monday. The town offices will reopen for business Tuesday, Dec. 28. Town offices will be closed Jan. 3.
The closings will not affect garbage pickup. The town's recycling center will be closed Friday and Saturday and Jan. 1
