Friendly Mart robbed Sunday; suspects sought

The Friendly Mart on N.C. 111 South was robbed by two armed men at about 6:45 p.m. Sunday.
Store employee David Allen Rice reported the incident to Wayne County Sheriff's Office.
According to the report, the two men entered the store demanding cash.
Both wore masks and gloves. One man was carrying a small black handgun and demanded the money, while the second man jumped over counter and took the cash from the cash register.
The men fled the store on foot with an undisclosed amount of money, according to investigators.
The thieves ran down the road from the business to Springbank Road where they got into a vehicle and drove off, according to officers.
The robbery remains under investigation by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office. Investigators are asking anyone with any information about the incident to call investigators at 731-1481 or Crime Stoppers at 735-2255.
