19-year-old charged with statutory rape

Christopher Devon Brown, 19, of Goldsboro, has been charged with one count of statutory rape in connection with an incident involving a 15-year-old girl.
Statutory rape involves sexual contact with a person who is 13, 14, or 15 years old by a defendant who is more than four, but less than six, years older than the victim, according to Goldsboro police.
The victim is a 15-year-old female. The incident is believed to have occurred between June and September 2010 at Brown's previous residence.
The victim's mother reported the incident on Nov. 15.
Brown was arrested Monday, following a nearly monthlong investigation by the Goldsboro Police Department.
Brown, of A Street, has a criminal record that includes charges of assault on a female and felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.
Brown was placed in the Wayne County Jail under a $50,000 secured bond.
