At about 8:30 Wednesday night, the Goldsboro Fire Department received a structure fire call for 108 N. James St. When units arrived, smoke was showing from the second floor and firefighters had to force entry into the first floor, Assistant Chief James Farfour said. It took an hour to put out. Farfour estimated there was damage to about 25 percent of the building. He said the building was vacant but that there have been reports of homeless people staying there. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
