Cop shooter found guilty

Jerome Wright, 27, was found guilty today on seven of the eight charges in connection with a June 2008 shooting of Goldsboro Police Officer Clint Hales. He was found not guilty of attempted first-degree murder, but was convicted on the others, including assault on a law enforcement officer and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. He was sentenced to serve at least 17 years in prison. For more on the story, see Tuesday's News-Argus.
