Forum planned on health reform

The public is invited to weigh in on the health care reform plan later this month, when Wayne Community College and the Health Department host a free forum at the college.
The presentation will examine how the reform passed by Congress earlier this year could impact local residents.
Pam Silberman, president and chief executive officer of the N.C. Institute of Medicine, will speak on "How Will Health Care Reform Affect You and Your Family?" July 27, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Moffatt Auditorium.
A question-and-answer session will follow.
As president of NCIOM, Ms. Silberman has helped to staff task forces on prevention, access to care, adolescent health, behavioral health needs of the military and their families, co-location of different populations in adult care homes and worked to develop Healthy North Carolina 2020 goals and objectives.
She serves as associate director for policy analysis with the Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and is a clinical associate professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management, Gillings School of Global Public Health and the University of North Carolina. She also teaches courses on underserved populations and safety-net programs.
