The Goldsboro City Council members will hear an update on the Union Station project during a work session prior to their meeting Monday night.

The council will meet at 7 p.m. in its chambers at City Hall on Center Street, with its work session starting at 5 p.m.

Council members will hold five public hearings at the meeting, all involving zoning or development issues.

The first is by Brighton Academy for property on the west side of Glenda's Drive between Sunset Drive and Cuyler Best Road. The second is by Kangaroo Sam's for property on the north side of East Street between Spence Avenue and Berkeley Boulevard. The third is by Dale Benton for land on the east side of Cuyler Best Road between West New Hope Road and Oxford Boulevard to allow the expansion of an existing trucking and construction company. The fourth is by Wayne Christian School for property on the west side of Patetown Road between New Hope Road and Tommy's Road. The fifth involved the initiation of zoning for Genoa Associates and involves a portion of the Neuse River Shopping Center.

Among the items on the council's consent agenda is the transfer of ownership of property at 113 N. Virginia St. to Preservation North Carolina and a petition for noncontiguous annexation for a lot on Windsor Creek Parkway.

During the work session, council members also will discuss a proposed soccer complex with the Neuse River Youth Soccer Association and a grant for the Police Department.
