A nurse at Cherry Hospital had to be hospitalized at Wayne Memorial Hospital for injuries received Wednesday, state officials said this morning.
According to the public affairs office of the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services, a patient was acting aggressively when two health care technicians attempted to respond. The patient then unintentionally backed into the licensed practical nurse, who fell and apparently struck her head on a piece of furniture.
Preliminary investigation by Cherry Hospital police indicated the patient was not acting aggressively toward the nurse.
According to Cherry Director Phillip Cook, the nurse has since been released from the hospital.
