Wayne County Public Schools returns this week to its annual summer flex schedule.
Employees will operate under a 10-hour-day, four-day workweek schedule, with offices being closed on Fridays.
Administrative offices along with the child nutrition and exceptional children's departments will be open Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. until 6 p.m.
Hours will vary for each of the district's 31 schools and other departments, such as maintenance, transportation, diagnostics and operations. A complete schedule is posted on the district website, www.waynecounty schools.org.
The 10-hour day flex schedule was introduced in 2006 to cut operation expenses during the summer months. In addition to being closed on Fridays, the school system will also be closed on Monday, July 5, in observance of Fourth of July.
Because the Wayne School of Engineering and the Wayne Early/Middle College High School operate on a different school calendar, they will also maintain four-day workweeks throughout the months of June and July.
