The deadline for mailing 2009 federal tax returns is Thursday and Postal Service offices in North Carolina will close that day at their normal times.
Taxpayers are encouraged to mail their returns prior to close of business.
The only options available after the post offices close are automated postal centers, which are available 24 hours a day for purchasing postage with the required date using a credit or debit card. In addition, some contract post offices are open past 6 p m.
The nearest such offices to Goldsboro are in Raleigh, at 1 Floretta Place, 7800 Falls of Neuse Road, 4325 Glenwood Avenue, 3233 Avent Ferry Road and 2777 Brentwood Road.
