A rally to encourage Wayne County residents to participate in the United States Census will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. on the steps of Goldsboro City Hall on Center Street.
Census forms have been mailed to the majority of Americans and others will soon see Census takers knocking on their doors.
Having an accurate count is important to local governments and local businesses communities because the numbers are used by government agencies and corporations to make a wide range of decisions, from how many representatives a state has in Congress to where new restaurants are built.
The public is invited to the rally, which will be held on the front steps of City Hall and is scheduled to include a proclamation reading and symbolic "march to the mailbox."
