Convenience store burglary
Authorities are looking for two white males who broke into Big Daddy's Gas & Grill on N.C. 222 East near Fremont, taking hundreds of dollars worth of tobacco products, according to a Wayne County Sheriff's Office report. Dana Diaz of the Fremont convenience store reported the break-in on Thursday morning after responding to a burglar alarm. Police later reviewed video of the incident. One of the two suspects grabbed black trash bag from the store's trash can and filled it with tobacco products worth almost $2,400, deputies reported. A cash register valued at $3,000 also was stolen, the report shows. The white males drove off in an a burgundy four-door Buick with a model year sometime between 1980 and early 1990s, police said. The pair headed east on in the vehicle on N.C. 222 sometime after the robbery about at 2:38 a.m., according to the report. One of the white males was wearing a blue or black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and white shoes, police said.
