Goldsboro, Wayne County and state and local offices will be closed on Wednesday in honor of Veterans Day.
The closing will not affect garbage or recyclables pickup by either the city or by Waste Industries.
The county's landfill and convenience center sites are already closed on Wednesdays because of the county's four-day work week. County Solid Waste Director Tim Rodgers said the sites would not be closed on another day to compensate. Rather, employees will be allowed to take another day for the holiday.
The town hall in Mount Olive will be closed. The town halls in Pikeville and Fremont will remain open.
Postal Service offices will be closed, as well as banks.
Additionally, the GATEWAY transit system will operate on a holiday schedule on Wednesday. The bus service will operate from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. The van service will observe its normal schedule. Passen-gers requesting van service for Wednesday must call and schedule transportation by 2:30 p.m. Monday.
