The Wayne County Health Department will hold its 12th annual Kids' Fest set on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Berkeley Mall.

Twenty-three organizations will participate, with more than 30 educational exhibits and fun activities promoting the health, safety and well-being of children and youth.

The event continues to feature the musical talent of local children performing on the mall's center stage and will include students from Northeast Elementary, Dillard Academy Charter School, Greenwood Middle School and Thriller Dancers as well as other local youth. Project Jump under the direction of Kris Parks will also be featured as part of the entertainment for this year. Firemen from the Goldsboro Fire Department will be sharing fire safety prevention tips and fire trucks will be on display in the mall parking lot. Sparkles the Purple Germ Buster will be available to inspect children's hands and teach proper hand washing techniques. The Goldsboro Police Department will also provide free digital fingerprinting for children, while child safety seat inspections will be conducted by Safe Kids of Wayne County in the parking lot next to the Sears Auto Center.

Substance abuse prevention information will be provided by the Seymour Johnson Air Force Base Drug Demand Reduction Program and WATCH Substance Abuse Task Force.
