More than 300 members of the 335th Fighter Squadron boarded a DC-10 bound for Afghanistan at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base on Sunday morning. Once they arrive in theater, members of the squadron will be charged with providing close air support for Coalition troops on the ground via dozens of 4th Fighter Wing F-15E Strike Eagles currently being utilized in the desert by Seymour Johnson's own 336th Fighter Squadron. For complete coverage of the Sunday afternoon deployment, including interviews with airmen, 335th Commander Lt. Col. Lance Bunch and 4th Commander Col. Mark Kelly, see Monday's News-Argus.
