Not many say they want to be on November ballot

Only a handful of races have developed for this November's municipal and sanitary water district elections including ones for mayor in Mount Olive and Pikeville and another for the Pikeville town board.
Meanwhile, it appears that write-in votes will decide the offices of mayor and two town board seats in Eureka.
Filing began July 3 and ended this past Friday.
The non-partisan elections will be held Tuesday, Nov. 3, and the polls will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The voter registration deadline is Oct. 9 at 5 p.m. Absentee voting by mail begins Oct. 5. One-stop absentee voting begins Oct. 15 and runs through Oct. 31 at 1 p.m.
Mount Olive Mayor Ray McDonald Sr. is being challenged by Jimmy Mayo.
In Pikeville, five candidates are seeking the board seats held by Edith McClenny and Lyman Galloway, both of whom are seeking re-election. Ward Kellum, Lee McGrady and Regina Wassenhove also have filed.
Pikeville Mayor Herb Sieger is facing opposition from Johnny Weaver. The four-year board terms are staggered. The mayor also serves a four-year term.
Races also have developed for the Eastern Wayne (five seats) and Fork Township (three seats) sanitary water districts.
Daryl R. Anderson, Jerry Bean, Billie V. Lee, Carl Mozingo and Kivett Ivey are running for re-election in the Eastern Sanitary District. Brandon Gray also has filed.
Five people have filed for Fork Township Sanitary Water District including incumbents Henry Braswell, Donald Neal and Dexter Taylor and challengers Gary Holland and Wayne Alan Westbrook.
MOUNT OLIVE
Commissioners Ray Thompson, at-large, Kenny Talton, District 1, Hosea Manley, District 2 and Gene Lee, District 5, all filed on the first day. Lloyd Warren, District 3, did not file citing health reasons.
George Fulghum, who narrowly missed winning a seat on the board two years ago, filed for the District 3 seat.
The mayor and commissioners serve two-year terms.
EUREKA
No one filed.
Mayor Steven Howell and Commissioner Billy Martin are up for re-election. Also open is the seat left vacant by the death of Wayne Taylor.
Members of the five-person board serve staggered four-year terms. The mayor also serves a four-year term.
SEVEN SPRINGS
Mayor Stephen Potter and Commissioners Rodoph Adams and Lisa Cash are unopposed. The five-member board serves staggered four-year terms. The mayoral term is two years.
WALNUT CREEK
Council member Darrell Horne, who serves as mayor filed as did Russell Prys. Council member Kathy Daniels did not file. The four-year terms on the five-member board are staggered. The council selects the mayor.
SANITARY BOARDS
Board members serve four-year terms.
Belfast-Patetown (five seats): Landis Davis, Fred Newcomb, Ray Sullivan and Ben Casey Jr. have filed for re-election. Also filing was Joe Brown. Incumbent board member Edwin Beamon is not running.
Southeastern Wayne: Charlie M.B. Holloway, Sam Casey, Edith S. Smith, James A. Taylor and Bobby Outlaw are unopposed
Southern Wayne: Sally Rawls Bowles and Dale Gainey are unopposed.
