The Highway Patrol was still looking for an unknown man involved in a Sunday hit-and-run accident that severely injured a Church of God Road moped driver.

According to an accident report, the unknown driver and moped driver Michael Paul Grady, 27, were both headed north on Wayne Memorial Drive.

The unknown driver was in a car traveling about 70 mph in a 55 mph zone when it rear-ended the moped, according to the report.

The moped was traveling at an estimated 30 mph at the time of impact and came to rest facing east on Wayne Memorial, the report shows.

According to the report, the car struck the moped and kept traveling north on Wayne Memorial after Grady was forced off the roadway.

Grady was initially transported to Wayne Memorial Hospital, but was later airlifted to WakeMed in Raleigh, according to emergency officials.

A WakeMed spokesperson said Grady was still in critical condition this morning.
