Third District Congressman Walter B. Jones will speak Sunday night at Fremont United Methodist Church as part of the church's "Christian Stars" Program.
The event will start at 7 p.m. at the church on Sycamore Street.
The church started the program last year as a way to bring notable representatives of the Christian faith to share their testimony with church members and other members of the community.
Jones, a Republican, is in his eighth term in the U.S. Congress and is a strong proponent of family values. A member of the House Committee on Armed Services and Financial Services, Jones is expected to share his views on some of the major issues affecting society today.
Charles Bruton, chairman of the Christian Stars committee and a lay leader of the church, said Jones' appearance is not politically motivated. After his presentation, there will be refreshments and a chance to speak with the congressman in person.
