Occupied home fired upon
Barbara Staten of Beale Street told Goldsboro police Monday night that someone shot her home while she was asleep inside. Ms. Staten awoke to the sound of a "loud explosion," according to the report, then rolled to the floor to protect herself while hearing more gunfire. Ms. Staten also told police that she heard people running in her yard and screaming, the report shows. Police documented $350 in damages to a glass screen door and wood exterior door at neighbor William P. Newkirk's home, according to the report.
