The Epsilon Phi Omega Chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority will sponsor an open mic teen poetry cafe in the H.V. Brown Hall Cafeteria on Friday from 7 until 9 p.m.
The event is open to teens in grades eight through 12. Teens will have an opportunity to share their poetry or, even if they don't write, hear creations from their peers.
The free event has been made possible through a grant awarded by the Arts Council of Wayne County and will include food, drinks, door prizes and plenty of readings by the teens and adult poets.
Space is limited, and teens are asked to RSVP by calling Rovonda Freeman at 252-9311 or 735-1952. The sorority can also be reached via email at epsilon phiomegachapter@gmail.com.
