Vehicle 'burned beyond recognition'

A city of Goldsboro employee said he found a burned out car in an open land area near the 2500 block of Royall Avenue, after the fire department had responded to a grass fire there on Sunday, police said in a report. The paint had been burnt off the vehicle, the interior components were entirely melted and burned, and the tires had been scorched off the rims, police said.

Man shot in foot

Maurice Lewis of Hart Circle was reported shot in the foot Sunday night by a man he did not know outside of Brews and Cues on U.S. 117 South, according to police. Lewis said he had broken up a fight, causing someone to start shooting inside the club. Lewis said he did not realize he had been shot until he exited the club, after which acquaintances of Lewis drove him to Wayne Memorial Hospital for treatment, police said.
