Attempted murder suspect violates parole

The suspect in a September shooting on Maple Street has been sentenced to 120 days in jail for misdemeanor probation violations, court records show.
Derrick Raymont Best, 27, is accused of the attempted murder of Alicia Griffin, and also faces three counts of discharging a weapon into occupied property.
Since then, court records show that his probation officer says Best has missed several probation office visits.
The court minutes also allege that Best, who was placed under house arrest while awaiting trial after the shooting, failed to keep a phone line working to allow proper electronic monitoring. He also admitted to leaving the home without telling his probation officer, according to court records.
A judge recently sentenced Best to 120 days in the N.C. Department of Corrections for the probation violations, according to court records.
