Goldsboro police along with Wayne County Sheriff\'s deputies canvass an area near Slaughter Street in Goldsboro shortly after Dominique Coleman, 21, of Slocumb Street was shot in the back on Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2009.

A Goldsboro man suffered a minor injury after being shot while walking down Slaughter Street late Wednesday afternoon, Goldsboro police said.

City police found Dominique Coleman, 21, of Slocumb Street, at the intersection of Slaughter and Elm streets moments around 3:50 p.m. on Wednesday.

Wayne County emergency personnel, members of the Goldsboro Fire Department and Wayne County Sheriff's Office deputies responded.

By 4 p.m., the ambulance and Coleman had left the scene and a manhunt for the shooter was underway.

According to a police report, police have no current suspects and Coleman could not immediately identify his attacker.

A K-9 officer led investigators through backyards and across lawns before returning to the scene without a suspect in custody.

Police officials said no further information is currently available but that the investigation is continuing.

Coleman was treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital.
